Call for Presentations

The Kentucky Ambulance Provider's Association Conference Education Committee is now accepting abstracts for consideration for the 28th annual 2018 Kentucky EMS Conference and Expo, scheduled for September 18-21, 2018, in Lexington, KY.

We are looking for timely, thought-provoking and educationally sound topics that are relevant to EMTs, paramedics, critical care providers, emergency nurses, EMS medical directors, EMS educators, administrators and managers. The following educational tracks are offered at the Kentucky EMS Conference and Expo: BLS, ALS, Critical Care, Educator, Operations, Administrative/Management, and General.

**Please Note: All proposals must be provided electronically in either Microsoft Word or PDF format by January 31, 2018.**

Proposal Considerations

Members of the Education Committee evaluate all proposed programs based on the following criteria: overall quality, relevance to the EMS community, well-defined focus within the program track structure, practical applications of material, timeliness of the topic and speaker qualifications.

When submitting your proposal(s) consider the following guidelines:

Top consideration is given to new, high-quality and/or timely topics not previously presented at the Kentucky EMS Conference and Expo. Strong consideration will be given to presentations that focus on solutions for both field providers and EMS management.

The title of each session should be descriptive and impactful so attendees know what the class is about.

Your course description should answer the following:

What will attendees gain from this session?
What are the learning objectives?
What will attendees take home to their agency?
We recommend that speakers submit several classes for consideration, as faculty members typically present 2-3 sessions.

Checklist

Your proposal MUST include the following items in the following order:

Title of your prospective conference session.
A description of your prospective conference session. Please gear the description towards the attendee. Your descrition will be published, in whole or in part, in the conference program so that those attending can select which break-out session they will attend.
A short bio describing your education and experience in EMS that would be used in promotional materials.
The names and titles (as in salutation) of each speaker/instructor.
The curriculum vitae for the lead presenter.
A list of presentation objectives suitable for submission to various boards for CE credit.
A high-quality head shot of the lead presentor in JPEG format, suitable to publication in our conference program. The head shot should be submitted as a separate attachment (and not included in a Word or PDF document, since these typically are not high quality).
Any fees connected to your travel and presentation.
Any special equipment necessary for your presentation (a PowerPoint projector and lecturn will be provided).
Proposals are due January 31, 2018.

The selected submitters will receive an e-mail notification of participation in February, 2018. Please note that paper submissions will NOT be accepted.

Important terms and conditions:

You must provide your own artwork in a graphic format usable by us and at a resolution that looks professional and does not degrade your art work. Since we no longer have staff who can work with your graphic files, you are responsible for providing a usable graphic file.

For sponsorship packages that include your logo on the conference website, your one (1) graphic logo and level of sponsorship will be placed collectively on one page at the official Kentucky EMS Conference and Expo Internet site. The one page that all logos appear on will be determined by the conference chairman. The conference's graphic designer will determine the display size of the logo and all graphic logos will be approximately the same size in a visually appeasing way as determined by the conference's graphic designer. You are responsible for providing your graphic logo in JPEG, GIF (no animated GIFs accepted), or PNG format in a timely manner (we do not support Flash graphics). The graphic designer reserves the right to modify the graphic image you provide to fit available dimensions as necessary. Graphic files that cannot be resized in a professional looking manner (at the discretion of the conference's graphic designer) will not be used. 

For sponsorship packages that include your one (1) logo on printed material, your graphic logo and level of sponsorship will be placed on selected printed material distributed by the conference committee. You are responsible for providing your graphic logo in an electronic file format of suitable resolution as determined by the conference chairman in a timely manner. We request that logos used on printed material be submitted as an EPS file with all text outlined. The type, format, and quality of printed material distributed is at the sole discretion of the conference chairman and may vary from year to year.

The conference chairman reserves the right, at his or her sole discretion, to decline any sponsorship offer that he or she deems inappropriate to the image of Kentucky or Emergency Medical Services.

Corporate sponsors who do not wish to exhibit in our Expo are not required to accept the vendor booth included in any sponsorship package.

Kentucky EMS Golf Scramble

What better way could there be to unwind just after you arrive at our conference?

And what better way could there be to visit with old friends and catch up on the past year?

The Sixteenth Annual Kentucky EMS Golf Scramble will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2018. Tee-time is 11:00 AM EDT at Houston Oaks Golf Course, 555 Houston Oaks Drive in Paris KY.

Pre-arranged teams are allowed. There is no limit on how many teams an EMS agency can send but at least one team member must be an EMS employee (which allows for a small agency to bring a guest, i.e., county judge, board member, etc. to participate). Individuals are also welcome and we will assign you to a team. Trophies for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place are awarded. This year we will continue our annual "Battle of the Air Medicals" where Kentucky's air medical programs vie for one trophy which they will get to keep for one year.

If you don't have enough for a team, you are still welcome to play. Just let us know and we will arrange you in a team of four according to your handicap or average score.

Cost is $70 per player ($280 per team, $100 for a hole sponsor, or $360 for a team as a hole sponsor) and includes driving range, greens fees, cart, and a meal at the conclusion of the Golf Scramble during the presentation of awards. Soft spikes are required. Pre-registration is required.

Tee time is at 11:00.

Kentucky EMS Recognition Banquet

The Kentucky EMS Recognition Banquet is held Thursday evening at 7 PM. A ticket at an additional cost is required for admission and is not included with the Thursday registration. Our guest speaker will be ______.

The banquet begins at 18:30 EDT.
